The Full Story
Hi, I'm Katie, the heart behind The Green Heron. My passion is creating a warm, inviting space where everyone can enjoy great wines from small vineyards. I believe in fostering community, celebrating the beauty of simplicity, and offering a place where everyone feels at home.

The dream of owning my own wine bar took root during a visit to London, where I met the inspiring owners of a charming wine bar in the heart of downtown. Their passion sparked my own, and The Green Heron was born. I won't lie and say that it has been an easy road but my passion to build this space has seen me through all of the headache.

Before starting The Green Heron, I owned and operated Fox in Socks Soapery for several years. Running my soap shop in The 2nd Street Market gave me invaluable experience in building a business from the ground up, managing operations, and connecting with a loyal customer base. It taught me the importance of quality, creativity, and community—values I carry into everything I do today.

The Mission
The mission of The Green Heron is to champion smaller vineyards that might otherwise be overlooked, expanding people’s perspectives on wine and showcasing that even small wineries can produce exceptional, flavorful creations. I’m committed to fostering true connections and encouraging meaningful conversations in an inclusive, community-driven space. The Green Heron also strives to collaborate with nonprofits to support the arts and literacy, blending the joy of wine with a purpose that enriches lives and builds stronger communities.
